Janet Lowndes is a qualified Psychologist with over ten years experience providing counselling for a diverse range of clients, specialising in issues related to the mind-body relationship. Her counselling includes working with people with body image concerns, eating disorders, addiction, depression and anxiety.
With an interest in exploring holistic approaches to health and healing Janet travelled to India in 2000 where she gained her initial Yoga Teacher Training qualification with the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana. Janet also spent time teaching conversational English to Buddhist Monks in northern India, a community which inspired her with their compassionate integrative approach to life. Janet has returned to India and also travelled in other areas of Asia to continue to learn from other cultures about integrative approaches to wellbeing.
Janet undertook further yoga teacher training with the Australian Institute of Yoga and the Centre for Adult Education in Melbourne, where she now teaches on the faculty of the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching, and Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy (Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy).
